Sadly, it must have been a licensing/publishing conflict that prevented the inclusion of the great vocal version of "Let Me Be Your Man" on this CD, as it contains only the instrumental. However, one listen to the first track, "Come On Home", a superb begging & pleading ballad in the Old-School group harmony tradition (with Funkadelics Eddie Hazel and Billy Nelson), should convince you to look for the vocal version of "Let Me Be Your Man", released as a single on Phil-L.A. of Soul in 1970 (Hint: Lost Soul Oldies, Vol. 7)Also worth the price of this CD (produced by Sammy himself) is a heartfelt cover of the beautiful Ed Townsend classic, "For Your Love", as well as the pretty "Love Sweet Love"Less impressive, IMO, are the uptempo numbers, which suggest the influence of Plainfield, NJ buddy George Clinton's success with Funk.Much appreciated are the ample liner notes by Rufus Weber who lets Sammy tell his own story. Thank you.Any more ballads Mr.Campbell...unreleased...or reissues of Del-Larks material??
