To stop it from letting the knee bend, I used a zip tie and duct tape to hold the locking mechanism in place, or it popped out continually. This maybe because I'm active with the brace, but it's a weak point. The lever that holds the side in place, so it doesn't rotate around to the front when tightening straps, doesn't work well. it should be held in place by the straps but wasn't. My solution was to stable the pad in place to the strap - on each pad and strap on the non-hooking side. I'm sure other solutions could work. The lowest pads don't lock in place for length either. if it's tight enough it mostly stays where I want it, but even lower it's not an issue so I don't care. Bottom line: It does it's job for me and I'm hard on it. For the money it was worth it. Other's might not want the hassle. Up to you and how you use it I think. This product does not come with enough padding to fully support the leg. After a couple weeks of usage, I had bruises all over my leg from where the pads gripped my calf, thigh, and knee joints. If you put the brace on any less tight, it will slide up and down your leg with no support. Does it work? Yes, if you use the adjustments on the side to make sure it grips in the right spot. I used my other braces and loved them, but this one was painful.Hard to give this kind of item 5 stars, but this one gets it. It's the only one that I can adjust while it's still on me. It's the difference between being able to move around and not.I received a very used (scratched up, broken plastic),smelly (musty with a hint of icy hot) and very dirty and dusty brace. No where in the product description anywhere does it indicate that these are sold used. Though it does seem like it will work good, once I spend the rest of the day cleaning and de-smelling the brace.Very hard to used and not really good fit it’s very hard to walk with it and it’s kill my knee you can just have it one when you laying down but nothing else my recommendation don’t buy it and safe your moneyThe brace is precisely what I needed to limit the mobility of my knee. The hinges keep the joint from rotating out of plane. The range of motion settings are easy to use, and self explanatory, although there were instructions - also easy to follow. The length adjustments also are easy to use.It seemed a bit complicated the first time I put it on, but the straps are all quite adjustable so you can get the brace in exactly the right location. The instructions weren't too clear on that, but it was pretty easy to figure out also. There's a top and a bottom to the brace. This brace is a great value for the price. I recommend it.Therapist recommended thisdevice to stabilize a weak knee joint. Device cumbersome, heavy if you are not an athlete. Device slides down leg requires constant readjustments. A waste of $89 for me.Bought this for my wife because her patella separated from her knee and twisted so she was on crutches for a while and couldn't walk on her own without being in tremendous pain.I went to the local brace store and they wanted me to pay a ridiculous amount of money for one that doesn't even bend at the knee. I found this one and thought it could work so I ordered it for less than half the price of what the brace store wanted.Once the brace came in she tried it on and was able to walk without a lot of pain and without crutches. This product helped her out a lot and I would recommend it to anyone.
