A recent conversation rekindled my interest in the B-3, so I searched out a ranking of great funky B-3 albums. At the top was Jimmy Smith’s Hoochie Cooche Man. I can see why. Love the whole album, but the A side is a gold standard in blues and jazz organ. Jimmy has an excellent voice too which is a bonus. Chicago blues and funky jazz mind meld. What’s not to like.
