Description
Golden Globe winner Anthony Tony Franciosa stars as Gannon, a thick-skinned cowboy wandering the harsh plains of Kansas. He comes to the rescue of Jess Washburn (Michael Sarrazin), who is about to be run over by a train, and vows to teach him the ropes of cowboy living. The duo soon walk into a heated conflict involving Beth (Judi West), a widow who is determined to corral a huge herd of cattle and reap the rewards. Beth wants to cut off her late husband's land, unfazed by the likelihood of destroying her neighbours pastures. Jess and Gannon find themselves on opposite sides of this vicious range war, and there's much more than just territory involved...This exhilarating Western quite literally pushes the limits of its genre, and features a spectacular soundtrack from the composer behind The Graduate, The Goonies and Tootsie. An all-star cast also includes Emmy nominee Susan Oliver (Peyton Place), John Anderson (Psycho) and Gavin Macleod (The Love Boat).

Tony Franciosa stars as a drifter in this 1969 film. He doesn’t want to talk about his brother or his past generally. He does not want to fight even though he is provoked and even though he is capable of winning. He is obviously hiding something. While illegally hitching a ride on a train, he meets a 23-year-old young man (Michael Sarrazin) from the east. A relationship develops between them. He sees the young man as a replica of his brother. He helps him learn to shoot, drive cattle, and work on a ranch. The two take a job on a ranch. The owner comes in conflict with ranchers who want to put up fences to stop their boss’s cattle from using their land to eat their grass and drink their water. Tony does not want to get involved. Michael does.
