Description
This film is a beautiful adaptation of James Joyce's autobiographical novel in which the author, through the character of Stephen Dedalus, portrays his youth, his Irish Catholic upbringing, and his coming of age at a Dublin university. Stephen, an intense, serious young man, questions the tyranny of family, state and religion in their attempt to control his body, mind and soul. The young artist chooses a lonely exile in his search for freedom and truth.

This film really captures the "Portrait of An Aritst As A Young Man" well. The motive explains being "arrested" (that is held by the reflected majesty of true art explained in the latter part of the film. Few persons explain this well. Philogist, Fredrick Nietche did despite his sister misrepresenting him as a Nietzhes as being like them, a facist) by art in the realm of creation/creativity that is improper. It helps one see without Mother God(Sophia) the picture being pasted around during the "sermon" no creativity happens without some risk reasonable for one age and level of maturation emotionally. I would not recommend this behavior because all circumstances are unique. Humor has a risk thou ask deceased tv talk show host-commedian, Johnny Carson! Ha!...This movie is a delight had I known this insight written here after having listened to deceased Mythologist, Joseph Campbell teaching series on James Joyce litt encompassing "The Portrait of An Artist as a Young Man". This will take some, dare I say, muscle to fathom out of its boredome. Like daily chores. However, It may help with integrating the spiritual osentatiousness of spiritual snobery in which 16th Century Saint John of the Cross had to endure from his brother carmelites. Saint John of the Cross brothers locked him in the Monastery bathroom with/without running water to say the least of what happened to Saint John.
