My five year old LOVES this costume. He has had any number of spiderman halloween type costumes and has worn them to shreds. He has found them frustrating as the velcro "buttons" don't hold together, and he doesn't like the fake muscles. But he also really wanted a REAL spiderman mask that covers his face "like the teenagers in New York.'He has somehow gotten the idea that there are roving gangs of teenagers in New York performing breakdance flash mobs all the time dressed as Marvel superhero characters. Thanks YouTube!He begged for this costume as an early birthday present and since it's "dress up as your favorite character" day this week in kindergarten, we gave in and got it early. He loves it! I love it! I love to watch him strut around and dance in this costume. He looks just like a little miniature spiderman, not a kid in a halloween costume.The costume is much better quality than those halloween costumes, even though it was not more expensive. The back still closes with velcro, but so far it has held (only a few days though.) The small (size 4-6) fits him perfectly, and he is on the small side for almost 6. And the mask is perfect! He can see through the embroidered eyes but his face is covered, and it fits snugly and doesn't fall off when he does cartwheels and flips. There are some small holes near the nose/mouth area and he has no trouble breathing. He feels so grown up wearing his "teenager" spiderman costume.One happy kid!Oh definitely 5 stars! Well made indeed. My grandson normally wears a 7 slim pant and size 8 shirt, at age 6 and a half. I had no idea how the size ran on this costume and so I bought a 10/12 just to be on the safe side. It is definitely big on him, but he's fine with that, especially since "Grandma, you have to wear it over your clothes!" He loves the included hood/face mask and the bottoms of the pant legs are slightly elongated so as to look like boot covers - I was glad I didn't go to the extra expense of buying those. I did buy gloves, however, and the color is definitely not a match, but he is happy and that's what counts to me. When he first asked for this for Christmas, I groaned - how was I to find a Spiderman costume *after* Halloween? Amazon came through again! Shipping, as always, was speedy. I would buy again, but I have to say that this costume is not junk - I really don't have to worry about the rigors a normal first grader would put it through. Well done!I read a lot of confusion with the sizes, so had a hard time deciding what size to get my son. So I wanted to make sure I post how this item in a medium fit my son. He is 45 lbs and 45" tall, I ordered the medium and it fits pretty well, a little long and with room to grow, so he will be able to wear it for awhile. But not too big that he's tripping over it. I'm glad I didn't buy the small, it would've been too small. The face mask is a little bit tighter fitted, but is comfortable and fine for him. He was so excited to get this costume since he has outgrown the old one.My 5 year old is a superhero junkie and lives this costume. One major drawback is the mask size---extremely small. We bought the size 7/8 costume and the mask was too small for his head. We had to force it on and stretch it out just to make it work.The costumes got runs in it pretty quickly (a week or so) but he wears it daily :-) all in all he loves it tho.What kid wouldn't want this for his birthday. My 6 year old climbs our walls and needed the costum to put him in total" spiddy man" zone.The other night he went to knowing he had a bug bite or a spider bite from sitting around the camp fire. So in the morning he woke his older brother up making spider-man web release noises. You know the noise if your shopping for this costum your kid makes it too. In the morning he was real disappointed that he hadn't turned into spider man.The material is really thin and not great for colder climate cities. The size for my 4 year old was perfect. The head piece was a little hard to stay on and it really covers the head.Really cool costume, my kids look like spiderman. Material is tearing at the wrist and ankles, the velcro is stitched into the costume w/ no backing so it is ripping out easily. Could be designed better.the moment my son put on this costume, he started screaming in pain. i had to pin him down and i thought he was choking, but little did i know that he turned into a spider-boy. he can now shoot webs from his wrists and is a masked vigilante. there was a crook running from a store, and he had a gun. He was about to shoot me, but luckily my spider son swooped in and beat him up. I plan to buy one for myself.
