This is truly one of the greatest debut albums in rock n roll history. Personally one of my favorite albums and rock band of the 60's.I have all of the Beatles albums and I've liked them since I was a child, but once I discovered The Byrds, I realized I had a new favorite 60's rock band. I was casually listening to the radio one day and I heard 'Mr. Tambourine Man' for the first time. I think I was about 7 or 8, but it stuck in my mind for years, and later on when I was in my teens I decided to find out who sang it and found out it was The Byrds.Well, I went to what was called The Wall, a great little music store in the 90's that always had everything and everything you bought was guaranteed for life. If you got a scratch that ruined your album or just plain old wore your music out, you would bring it back to them and they would replace it with a new one free of charge.Well, unfortunately the business wasn't guaranteed for life and eventually it went under. However, that's where I discovered my first CD. It was a compilation of the Byrds' singles from 65 to 67. That was my first introduction to The Byrds and I have loved them ever since.I got into records again about 4 years ago now, and set out on a quest to get all the best. I first bought the Beatles box set for my first self-purchased vinyl records. Then I found out Sundazed was releasing The Byrds' first five albums on vinyl again for the first time in over 30 years. Not only was it being re-issued, but the pressing was coming from the original analog mono master tapes. What could be better than that.So I started my collection by naturally buying their debut album first. I was absolutely stunned/shocked to discover how wonderful it sounds, and on mono like it was meant to be heard. Back then mono was king, most car radios only had one speaker...and there was more time spent in the studio perfecting the mono masters, because stereo was still somewhat of a gimmick that was in its infant stages and therfore was only a bands second thought. However, the mass market was mono and the mono originals are what collectors search for these days.I loved the way it sounded so much, that I immediately ordered the other 4 albums and eventually I have collected all of their albums and singles. But 'Mr. Tambourine Man' remains my favorite albums from them and I have listened to this album so much that it is already getting worn out after just three years. So I'm back here again ordering another. I can't say enough about these pressings from Sundazed, they're just phenomenal.Nothing beats that 12 string jingle. It's where Tom Petty got his sound. If you like Tom, you'll enjoy the Byrds.I highly recommend this album. If you're a rock collector of the 60's era...this is a must have album for everyone's library.
